It's a known fact that immersion of ashes at Rameshwaram has been prohibited. In fact, a good friend of mine had written to me - a while ago, of course - about the deep anguish that it had caused him because he was unable to immerse his dad's ashes out there. I've also heard of stories where people have carried the ashes of their near and dear ones in small packets in the pockets of their shorts, waded through the waters of the Bay of Bengal to surreptitiously immerse it in the waters. Why make orders which encourage people to do wrong things?
Has that order been struck? If it is, why was such a dumb order - causing anguish to many - issued in the first place? I'm sure the guy who perpetuated the order was downright ignorant of the finer feelings that revolve around the immersion of the ashes in the Rameshwaram waters - it's one of the four 'dhaams'- or was being outright mischievous!
If it has not been revoked how has the late Sreedevi's ashes been immersed? I have nothing against the actress but this selective doling out of privileges for celebrities need to be stopped. It's not fair on the common people whose rights/emotions are being trampled upon mercilessly.

The Penguin Story.
The surprising thing in this day and age is that something big had gone unseen.
About 1.5 million Adelie penguins were found on the Danger Islands that has been stable since '59. The scientists have said the the supercolony had gone undetected because of the remoteness of the islands, located off the northern tip of the Antarctic peninsula.
The birds were uncovered after patches of their excreta - known as 'guano' - were picked up by NASA satellites in '14.
Tailpiece.
Tomorrow is gonna be a long day as Lekha goes for her medical review with Padmanabha Shenoy. The appointment is at 11 AM and we plan to hit the road by 6, to make it in time.
PS.
I stand corrected. Sreedevi's ashes were immersed at Injambakkam beach in Madras and not at Rameshwaram as said earlier on the social media.
