After the twelve day absence, there were a few work pending and it was taken up in right earnest. Earlier, had got up a trifle late and missed out on the morning walk but it seemed to be a blessing in disguise as it drizzled for a while - it would have got me wet for sure!
The car's people were called and the extent of damage was listed out to them. Since the right rear view mirror was not in their stock, an order has been placed to ensure its timely arrival and thankfully, their Ernakulam depot has one in its stock. The delay is gonna be there because the spares needed for the repairs of the air conditioning system can be ascertained only after the vehicle is inspected.
Had gone to town, basically, to get a few other jobs done. The collection of our monthly stock of medicines, the transfer of the eight grand into the caretaker's account, for applying the next round of manure on the rubber saplings and the dropping of the credit card dues were a few of the tasks. The traffic was bad short of the railway level cross and it did take a lot of time to extricate from it. The auto rick driver did not take any risks and hence, the delay was compounded. Subha, at the bank, was very helpful and sort of fast tracked my requirement, as usual - damn sweet of her!
There was, however, a problem at the dry cleaners. Roshni, who used to be at the counter, had lost her husband a couple of days back and was consequently, absent. In her place, there was a guy called Binu, who was collecting the clothes - a lady had deposited her sari and he'd asked her to write down her name and cell phone number in a register. He didn't give any receipt slip as he did not know, "the ABC of computers", backing it up with a rather sheepish grin! Much as I was unhappy with the situation, the predominant thought of dumping the clothes at the shop, precluded any sort of analytical thinking on my part and I did just that, hoping that things would get all right by tomorrow as he said it would!
It was well past 12 when I returned home, we had a quick bite of lunch and went to look up Rana Roy, my friend and his wife, Lokhi at the Rajah Ayurvedic Hospital at the Akalad beach. They'd chosen the place on the basis of my recommendations and arrived here, last Saturday. It was my responsibility to see them within their new environment and hence our trip, which was educative and it was great to meet up with Rana and Lokhi.
The place has a nice ambiance around it and I remembered Ikka's words when he'd said that I should find time to spend some time out there and use the facilities, which were top class that attracted quite a lot of foreign guests.
Tailpiece.
Lekha's cold and cough have got me worried. Must take her to the doctor tomorrow!
