Two more days are left for the electioneering to finish in Kerala. The state goes to polls on the 23rd. The candidates are in a frenzy to finish the last lap of canvassing for votes. We're yet to get our voting slips which, eventually, will allow us to vote!
1. Mulayam Singh and Mayawati on the Same Stage.
After 24 years, Mulayam Singh and Mayawati came together at the same election rally at
Mainpuri in UP. Mayawati called him a true OBC leader while he directed his ranks of partymen
to respect her, always! There was a slight mishap, however. Ajit Singh of the RLD was
conspicuous by his absence!! It also shows the consolidation of the Samajwadi party by his
son, Akhilesh Yadav.
If Mulayam was the 'ultimate' OBC leader, why did Mayawati desert him in the first place?
2. Sadhvi Pragya Thakur Creates a Flutter.
The BJP's candidate in Bhopal, Sadhvi Pragya Thakur created a flutter when she said that the
end of the martyr of the 26/11, Hemant Karkare, had come about because of her curse as he'd
tortured and abused her while in custody for the Malegaon blast case. The party distanced itself
from her utterance by saying that it was her own opinion, based on personal experience!
If she has a plausible story, there could be many-a-hiccup in the days to come!
3. Priyanka Chaturvedi Joins Shiv Sena.
Former Congress spokesperson, Priyanka Chaturvedi joined the Shiv Sena in pique over the
Congress for:-
(a) Reinstating party workers who had misbehaved with her during her press conference
in Mathura, UP.
(b) Being denied a party ticket!?
Her whimsical decision has taken even some of her close followers by surprise!
4. Anguish Over a Mistake.
Pawan Kumar, a Dalit of Bulandshahr, was confused by too many party symbols on the electronic
voting machine and cast his vote for the BJP. It happened in the Shikarpur area and he was quick to
chop off his index finger on account of that mistake. He had actually wanted to vote for the BSP!
Strange! People can go really crazy during the elections.
