My saarthi, Sebastian, was on an errand in the unit's Gypsy. Enroute, as he's cruising on an easy speed, there was a sudden application of brakes by a couple of vehicles ahead of him which resulted in the Gypsy grazing the Alto in front.
The reaction was swift, the Alto's driver was raging mad as he insisted on Sebastian to accompany him to the nearest servicing station to do up the damages and foot the bill. Our man coolly replied that the correct action would be to report to the nearest police staion to have a case registered and drove off in the direction of the post. Much to his relief, they're transiting through a railway level cross at that instant and the Alto that was following him was left behind as the gate had closed soon after he'd crossed it. He then, headed back straight to me at my office to gave me a rundown of the incident. I realised that he'd come off without sorting out the problem with the aggrieved and therefore, there existed a possibility of future escalation when the Alto's driver accosted my man.
It did not take much time to contact the police staion covering the area of the mishap who put us on to the traffic police post where the incident was reported to the personnel on duty. He was apprised that the number of the Alto was not noted in the prevailing confusion and panic, but the colour of the car was described. The duty policeman, pleasantly surprised, had promised to convey through wireless to alert the 'sad' Alto driver that the Gypsy's 'owner' could be contacted for further action, if required, as he'd our access numbers!
As I finished with the last call, I'd a glimpse of Sebastian's face and noticed a look of relief!

Lost kit
ReplyDeleteMan arrives in this world with a comprehensive do-it-yourself kit. A step-by-step instruction manual delineating the way to spiritual upliftment is available in the form of scriptural texts for all. However, like some of us who throw away new brochures unread, many people go through life geared towards material acquisitions and sensory satiation, thereby leaving the spiritual message unopened. The result is a yawning chasm in one’s comprehension of this world and a lack of true perception on all that life entails. Human beings need to understand the true aim and purpose of life. Granted that life ought to be much more than a rat race, how does one set about acquiring the skills needed for enriching the soul? Can ordinary human beings hope to experience God and godliness? How one search for the kit he had lost? One of the scriptural texts, which he threw away, may be a guide for finding a way out. It can be Bhagavad Gita for Hindus.
Before doing that we should know some thing about Godlessness. What is this? While it is true that whatever may be the form of worship God is reached, the Gita condemns godlessness and materialism in no uncertain terms, describing the materialist code of life in language that almost to refer to present day affairs.
The materialist does not admit that there is anything in itself right or wrong. The materialist theory of life is stated thus:
“The universe is based on truth; it is not supported by any spiritual law; it is not ruled by god; life is brought about by the coming together of matter, by the attraction of desire, and nothing else; thus these men aver”.
Godlessness leads to false ideas of progress and civilization, exploitation and war. Tee pride of power and possession be it of the individual, the group or the nation, and the destruction and anarchy which leads to are described in this text.
But remember one thing; it is we who lost the way because we lost the kit. The earlier we find it and start following what is said in that will fulfill the need for being born as human being.
