The afterthought!

Yesterday, I'd written about the denial mode that the CPM and the Congress were stuck in, regarding their recent electoral defeats. Today, one of them has made amends to its stand while the other continues to be where it's stuck. Let's see as to how the transformation has come about.

The CPM.

After living in denial for almost the entire week, the party's state committee has acknowledged that it was done in by the 'Sabarimala factor'. I don't think that the believers can ever forget the manner in which the lady was helped into the sanctum sanctorum of the temple by a massive contingent of the Kerala police, under the pretext of enforcing the court's order. It was carried out beneath a veil of secrecy after the enforcement of prohibitory orders and despite such steps, there were no takers! The lady who'd entered the temple's premises betrayed her true intentions when she took a selfie on her mobile phone, no sooner had she entered the premises! Sad!!

Now that it has realised its folly, it's my fond hope that the party learns from it and takes corrective action to get back the faith of its electorate!

The Congress.

On the other hand, it was pathetic to note Sonia Gandhi raving about her son's performance as the party leader. Every mother wants her son to succeed but in this case, the mother is condoning his lack of leadership qualities! Innuendos and half truths wouldn't help anyone at the hustings especially, when the electorate was absolutely sure that her son was lying and he'd gone a bit too far, exceeding the limits of propriety, in harping on the 'chowkidar chor hai' slogan. The sad fact is that neither the mother nor his courtiers want to tell him the truth about his failure!

The party seems to be hell bent on self destruction. No one gets a third chance, after failing twice, but I suppose Indian politics is full of stupid sentimentalism! Rahul Gandhi is a privileged man because of his lineage!! And also, notice that no one has suggested his sister's name instead, for the fear of falling foul of the mother-son duo!!!

Tailpiece.

Had got up at our usual time, gone through the chores and were ready well in time. Lekha and I've decided to have both Annie and Preetha as helps, especially because the latter would be weak in the aftermath of the illness and it would be prudent not to saddle her with heavy work, at least for the next two months.

Reshmi and Kripa-shankar had dropped by in the afternoon. The latter has got a seat blocked in BTech(Mechanical) at the Vellore Institute of Technology, Madras. They'd come by to pray to Guruvayurappan and left for the Mookambika temple by the night's Volvo, from Thrissur, around 2300 hrs.

Lekha and I will be setting off for Thiruvananthapuram by early morning, Monday.
