1. Did you know about a luxury bus service from London to Calcutta which existed up to the 1970s? It passed through the following countries :-

* Belgium
* Germany
* Austria
* Yugoslavia
* Bulgaria
* Turkey
* Iran
* Afghanistan
* Pakistan and
* India.
2. It included Travel - Food - Accommodation - Sightseeing.
3. In the late '60s, a double decker bus nicknamed "Albert" made 15 trips between India and UK. By
the mid '70s, since many of the countries on the route had internal unrest or were warring with
each other, the bus service was terminated in '75.
4. The single fare between Calcutta and London was 85 Pounds (Rs.7,889/-) which was pretty
expensive, given the year the bus service began.
