One must be very careful about what one utters - firstly, it must not be controversial, secondly, it should not hurt anyone's sentiments - it can have wide ramifications within the country and abroad. This needs to be understood because there seem to be many agents in the western media as well as the social media to show India in poor light!
The BJP, on Sunday, sought to douse the communal fire lit by its loose cannons' recent derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed, by suspending one and expelling the other. While the party suspended spokesperson, Nupur Sharma for her offensive comment in a TV debate, it expelled its Delhi media head, Naveen Kumar Jindal for his reckless tweets.
Also, the hate speech triggered anger in the Arab world with the foreign offices of Qatar, Kuwait and Iran summoning the respective Indian envoys to register their outrage. Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif, too, condemned the remarks. The Ambassador has conveyed that neither the tweets nor the comments on TV reflect the views of the Government of India, these are the views of the fringe elements. The MEA pitched in by stressing on India's civilisational heritage and strong cultural traditions of unity in diversity, saying the government accords highest respect to to all religions.
(One still remembers with sadness, though, about Qatar giving citizenship to MF Hussain after painting nude Hindu goddesses).
My take
It would be worthwhile to recapitulate and observe a few of the recent happenings :-
* If you have checked the news sources and social media handles over the last six months, BJP doesn't care for its 'karyakartas' is the only message that's being bandied about. Is it the narrative which the opposition is going for towards the run up to the General Elections of 2024?
* Soros had taken an oath to bring down Trump and Modi who don't listen to him. He was successful in the case of Trump and is trying hard to do the same to Modi.
* Rana Ayyub, some opposition political leaders have travelled to Arab countries, UK and the US and everyone has been uttering about minority oppression. Rahul Gandhi had gone a step beyond that, too, in his comments on the Modi government.
* Above all these, rather than the external and internal enemies, the divisive Hindus must take a share of the blame.
* Is this a conspiracy to bring down the image of India?
Why haven't any of these countries uttered not even a word on the atrocities committed by China on the Uyghur Muslims? It's double standards all the way.
Why can't India stand together - irrespective of caste, creed, religion or region - for the country's overall good and continued prosperity towards becoming a power to reckon with, in the world?
Tailpiece.
Got up at 6, the chores and was ready by 10. Today's Lekha's birthday by the Malayalam calendar.
Had gone to town to complete bank work, buy a statuette of Lord Ganesh to gift Lekha and buy 'Raamacham'. Had my tryst with Guruvayurappan too,
It was a high lunch!
Lekha and her sister had gone to the Guruvayur temple for 'darshan' in the evening.
Cleaned up the undercarriage of the Chevy
