The dilemma of being a superpower!

Damned if we did, damned if we don't.....

Marianne Williamson on Twitter about the US pullout from Afghanistan

1. So basically we're leaving Afghanistan after 20 years and the Taliban is now on its way to Kabul. Which means we wasted $2 Trillion and 2,400 American lives. The situation is not appreciably any better than it was when we went there.

2. Yet even this year, we're spending $763 Billion on defence because obviously we do such a bang up job!

Hey kids : what do Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan all have in common?
Wasted blood, wasted money, massive failure.

3. The defence industry is no different than the fossil fuel industry or health insurance industry or any other corporate tyrant that allows profits to take precedence over human life.

4. In the case of MIC, particularly heinous because of how much damage it does to other to other countries. America's grace period can't last forever. While both political parties - the Democrats and the Republicans - play whore to the defence industry, the people ourselves need to stand up to the emperor and admit he has no clothes.

5. Our military bloat is not a path to security; it's a purveyor of death and destruction.

And what about India?

Turkey is all set to take over airport operations in Afghanistan. Knowing the Turkey - Pak relationship and Pak's hold on Taliban, it's a major win for Pak.

Taliban government will restrict visa for Indian diplomats and businessmen.

And we have invested thousands of crores in Afghanistan and have many projects going on.

Fun fact

Did you know that when Sweden and Denmark play each other in Euro 20-21, the letters that are used for the teams are SWE vs DEN (together, Sweden) and the remaining letters which are not used are DEN and MARK (together Denmark).....

Coincidence.....

Tailpiece.

Got up at a half past 5, so that Lekha could be ready for the drawal of blood samples by the Rajah Medical Team at 0700 hrs, as per Toothy Mallan's requirements. The results had fetched up about three hours later and the readings are all within accepted parameters.

Sanil's mother, Padmavathy Amma teacher (aka Ayoor amma) passed into the mist of time around 1100 hrs at her residence. She's 82 years. Om Shanti! Sadgati. Her funeral will be around 1000 hrs tomorrow....Sanil and Mini are coming by road from Bangalore and have passed Thrissur, as I punch in this post.
