Standing by her convictions!

She won her first Olympic medal at Athens 2004 - the silver in 200 m.

In Beijing 2008, she won the silver in that event again. And along with it a gold in the 4x400 m relay.

In London 2012, there were golds in the 200 m, 4x100 m and 4x400 m, including a World Record in the second event.

At Rio 2016, came the silver in 400 m and golds in the two relays.

In early 2018, she got pregnant.

Her sponsors, Nike said they would lower their sponsorship amount by 70%. When she protested, she was asked to 'know her place' and get back to training.

Alysson Felix moved away from Nike. She created her own brand of shoes. She wore the shoes in Tokyo 2021. This was her fifth Olympic Games.

At the age of 35, she won a bronze in 400 m and a gold in the 4x400 m relay.

Her tally of medals stood at 11 - 7 golds, 3 silvers, 1 bronze, making her the most successful female Olympic athlete ever.

After the last medal, she posted a picture on Instagram. The caption read : 'I know my place (and it's in my own shoes)'.

The picture showcased her medals and the scar of the caesarean section from giving birth to daughter, Camryn.

As a result, the suit-clad male-dominated Nike-management had a change of whatever black market substitute corporates carry for a heart. Women athletes sponsored by the company are now guaranteed salary and bonuses for 18 months around their pregnancy.

Since then three more big sponsors have walked the same path and changed their terms.

Did you know?

When you're happy, you enjoy the music. But when you're sad, you understand the lyrics.

Tailpiece.

Got up a trifle after 6, the chores and was ready by a quarter to 10.

Spoke with a lot of people; the day was busy from that point of view.
