UDAN network to cover 120 new destinations.

UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik), the regional Connectivity Scheme  will be continued beyond 2027 and its network will extend to 120 new destinations. The focus of connectivity will be with hilly, North-Eastern and aspirational regions.

UDAN was implemented on 21 Oct 2016 under the National Civil Aviation Poilcy to make flying accessible and affordable for all. It was launched with a 10-year vision to connect  Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities through a market-driven yet financially supported model.

UDAN is not just a scheme; it is a catalyst for change and a testament to India's commitment to make air travel inclusive, sustainable and an integral part of our development journey. So far, over 1.56 crore passengers have travelled on board the 3.23 lakh flights operated under it.

Under the scheme, 649 routes have been operationalised as on date connecting 93 unserved and underserved airports, including 15 heliports and 2 water aerodromes. The government has disbursed more than Rs.4,300 cr as Viability Gap Funding (VGF) and invested Rs.4,638 cr in airport development.

Tailpiece.

Got up at 5, sent all the messages, switched on the hymns on the home theatre, lit up the puja room lamp and opened up the house for the day. Carried out our customary Wednesday 'aarathi' and then, had our morning cuppa which Lekha had made.

Walked within the house and recited my prayers.

Breakfast of Poorie-bhaaji.

Worked on my laptop.

Lunch, watched Crime Patrol and our regular serials. Siesta.

A quiet evening, thereafter.
