Got up at 6, went through the chores and was ready by a half past 8. We took off for Dr. Srikant Mallan's Dental clinic - about 40 km, further south - from my cousin's place, by a quarter to 9 through the morning rain. Missed two close quarter situations, the fault being mine on both occasions! Eventually, reached our destination by a quarter to 10. The doctor was right there to meet us and to check out Lekha's problem!
He'd taken corrective measures and has assured Lekha that the pain from now, would be a thing of the past. However, if and when the pain makes a comeback, the molar would be removed and implants would be introduced, instead! Actually, the work on Lekha's dentures did not take much time. After that, he'd taken up my dental issues which were, firstly, to reposition a bridge that had come off, sometime last month and an extraction.
The teeth at the extremities of the bridge were prepared which took about an hour or so. A series of 12 local anesthesia pricks were administered on three teeth. They did hurt me but the thought of the problem getting permanently sorted out, gave me Dutch courage to face the pain at the time of their administration! The work on my dentures started off in right earnest with my friend and doctor, giving me a run down on everything that he was doing. On completion of the evolution, the prescription for the medicines was given and we set off, on our return trip, from the clinic by about 5' to 1.
Thanks to fairly heavy traffic, we reached my cousin's place about 40' later. Gauri had, meanwhile, got a great lunch ready. Enroute, I couldn't find a single medical shop and had misplaced the doctor's prescription of medicines. Called up Dr. Sruthi, his assistant, who'd immediately passed it on What'sApp and that was a great help because I could have the pain killer soon after, as the doctors had warned me about the pain shooting up once the anesthesia wore off.
We'd taken off from my cousin's place by a 5' to 3. The rains had stopped and the journey was fine. We reached Guruvayur by 5 and Lekha purchased fruits and vegetables from the market. By the time we were back at 'The Quarterdeck', it was a half past 5! The opening up of the house, followed by unpacking, were completed within no time.
Heard the news and watched a few of the Malayalam serials, after a long lapse. Incidentally, the Met Department has said that tomorrow would see a good amount of rain!
Tailpiece.
A trip that saw us doing all the things that we'd wanted to do without any further delay! Rains were there but it neither dampened our enthusiasm nor the smoothness of the journey. It was rains, again, after 2230 hrs.
