There were three categories of competitions, we had arranged for the children, this morning from 10 o' clock. Painting, the Thesaurus game and quiz competition had enthusiastic young participants. There were three visuals from the competition that shall remain in memory for a long time viz.:-
(a) A small boy lying on his abdomen and painting.
(b) Another small boy erasing his pencil outlines that he'd etched because he didn't seem to be happy with his efforts and lost quite a bit of time and
(c) A little girl's efforts which brought a village scene to life as she finished the final touches.
By lunchtime, the very interesting session with the kids - which was a very colourful one at that - got over. They seemed to enjoy the sweets and the Frooty provided in the course of the session. Was impressed with the turn out of the parents who'd come to encourage their children!
The Foundation's team had lunch in a hotel nearby and we, then, went off to the office. I'd my 40 winks during that break and returned fresh. The theme of today's meeting was "Cultural Meeting and the Poets' Gathering".
Though V Muralidharan, the MoS for external affairs, was the chief guest, he was unable to leave New Delhi thanks to the current situation of students' evacuation from Ukraine and had expressed his inability to attend, yesterday itself. The rest of the guests were VP Joy, the chief secretary to the government of Kerala, Prof George Onakkoor, MR Thampan and a host of poets like Raghu, Mallika Venukumar, etc.
It was a nice session with the chief secretary and the professor recalling their associations with PN Panicker and their talks liberally, laced with poetry. The evening's programme got over by a half past 6. On completion, we returned home and it was a quiet evening thereafter. Aniyan was with us.
Tailpiece.
A day, well spent!
