Lekha's appointment with her doctor - that was fixed after her last meeting with him, three months ago - is on the 29th and coming all the way from Guruvayur, on that day, would be super humanly impossible taking into account the dynamics of the Malayalee's attitude to bandhs!
So Lekha and I'd decided to reach Kochi a day earlier, stay in the city and make it to the clinic because traffic within city limits - under intense police scrutiny - should not be much of a problem....at least that's what we think and hope.
Got up around a trifle past 6, the chores and shut down The Quarterdeck progressively. The Kittus' latest addition, Kittu jr, was active throughout till we left him. Kittu had his food and vanished from the scene - probably didn't want to see us leave the premises! Kittu jr was howling as well as dipping his mouth into the bowl of milk placed before him.
We had finished a quick packing, an early lunch and kicked off from Guruvayur at a quarter past 2. Like in the previous trip, I'd opted for the Kodungalloor route and being a Sunday, the traffic was sparse till we entered Kochi. We went to Panampilli Nagar, had tea at our favourite haunt and leaving the Chevy there, headed to the Convent Junction to buy Indirakkutty's gift. The gift for Suresh's daughter - who's gonna be our new neighbour from the 30th, albeit for a short while, as she'd be flying back to Dubai with her husband who works there - could not be bought because the famous 'AKP Metals' was closed for the day! That purchase has, therefore, been put off for Wednesday.
We reached Hotel Sarovaram through a massive thundershower and settled down to a quiet evening in our would-be-home-for-the-next-two-days.
Tailpiece.
Life puts one through different and demanding situations!
