Aparna Sen in lead role as Tollywood and schools protest against Mamata Banerjee government's inaction on the PG medico's cruel rape and murder.
Prominent members of the Bengali film industry joined thousands of people in a massive rally demanding justice for the trainee who'd died a violent death of rape, torture and murder at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital at Calcutta on the 9th of last month. The 'Mahamichhil' began from College Square, marched along central Avenue; a junior doctors' forum which has been protesting also joined the rally.
A demonstration was also organised by the alumni and of Ramakrishna Mission-run educational institutions, the other involved students and past pupils from a well-known convent school demanding justice for the victim. Their march was in South Calcutta from Golpark to Rabindra Sadan Exide crossing carrying banners with the message, "Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya" demanding a fair investigation and arrest of those involved.
Mamata Banerjee's argument that the public demonstrations were BJP and RSS-organised have fallen flat!
