Bewildering news!

1. Chidambaram, his son, Karti Get Protection.

A New Delhi court extended, till 01 Aug, the interim protection from arrest granted to former
union minister P Chidambaram and his son, Karti in the Airtel-Maxis cases by the CBI and the
Enforcement Directorate. What's so special about this father-son duo that entitle them to get a
deferential treatment from the court time and again?

Aren't they supposed to be treated in the same manner as an ordinary citizen is treated when
court cases are under way. Would be interested to know the reasons for the special treatment
meted out to these two and mind you, this nonsense has been going on for quite a while!

2. USS John McCain Kept Away From The President's View.

The White House requested a naval ship named after President Trump's late rival Senator
John McCain be kept "out of sight' during a recent Presidential trip to Japan. The request had
come from an official who said he'd been briefed on requirements for the visit by the White
House Military Office and and the Seventh Fleet, which is stationed in Japan. "USS John McCain
needs to be out of sight. Please confirm #3 will be satisfied, the e-mail said, as seen by the Wall
    Street Journal.

Queer, as I thought a President was magnanimous and above pettiness. And do you carry your
hatred, towards a deceased man, to such lengths?

3. Another Queer Act!

A 38 year old man raped his mother at their house at Neeravil, near Anchalummoodu in
    Kollam. Consider the following:-

        (a) She's 64 years of age.
        (b) Suffers from Parkinson's Syndrome and
        (c) Has been bed ridden for the past two tears.

In '14, the Anchalummoodu police had arrested the youth for the murder of a 50 year old woman
who was killed during a rape attempt. He's addicted to ganja and alcohol; had committed the crime
     under the influence.

The man has now been arrested based on the statement of his father, who'd witnessed the crime.

My grandmother, Mrs. PN Panicker would have said, "these are instances of the bigotry and lack
     of values during Kaliyug!"

Tailpiece.

Had got up at our usual time, gone through our chores and were ready well in time. It was a rather quiet day and Annie, the maid couldn't make it because she wasn't keeping well. Vineesh, who was to come by as our chauffeur, couldn't make it because he was on a trip to Kochi. So, we went across to the Kalyan Silks at Kunnamkulam, in Sijo's auto rickshaw, as Lekha wanted to buy dress material for herself. We were back by 11.

PS.

Was a bit bewildered that Suresh Prabhu has not been included in Modi's cabinet. He's quiet and efficient. Probably, another important assignment awaits him. Even Sushma Swaraj's omission was unexpected but I'm sure Modi knows best!
