The unmatchable PG Wodehouse!

PG Wodehouse can tickle your humour bone like nothing or nobody else can.

* "He had just about enough intelligence to open his mouth when he wanted to eat but certainly no more". PG Wodehouse.

* "At the age of eleven or thereabouts women acquire a poise and an ability to handle difficult situations which a man, if he is lucky, manages to achieve somewhere in the later seventies". PG Wodehouse, Uneasy Money.

* "There are moments, Jeeves, when one asks oneself, "Do trousers matter?"
"The mood will pass, sir". PG Wodehouse, The Code of the Woosters.

* "He had the look of one who had drunk the cup of life and found a dead beetle at the bottom". PG Woodhouse.

* "I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled". PG Wodehouse, The Code of the Woosters.

* "She looks as of she had been poured into her clothes and had forgotten to say "when". PG Wodehouse.

* "I always advise people never to give advice". PG Wodehouse.

* "A melancholy-looking man, he had the appearance of one who was searched for the leak in life's gas-pipe with a lighted candle". PG Wodehouse, The Man Upstairs and Other Stories.

* "There is only one cure for grey hair. It was invented by a Frenchman. It is called the guillotine". Vintage PGW.

* It was a confusion of ideas between him and one of the lions he was hunting in Kenya that had caused AB Spottsworth to make the obituary column. He thought the lion was dead and the lion thought it wasn't. Ring for Jeeves (1953).

* "And she has got brains enough for two, which is exact quantity the girl who marries you will need".

* "When I see lovers' names carved on trees, I don't think it's sweet. I only wonder how many people bring a knife on a date".

Leave it to Psmith :

"He looks like a pig. In fact, he resembles a pig. In fact, he resembles a pig more than most pigs do".

Tailpiece.

Got up at a quarter to 5 and sleep just refused to return. The noise of the road roller on the main road didn't help it too. Got ready well in time.

Told Anto, my sa'arthi, that I'd delayed my departure and to pick me up after 8. I'd decided to go to Kochi by the private bus as the KSRTC guys were on strike from last midnight. Got the bus at a 20' past 8. A slow drizzle was continuously on.

Reached Vyttila Hub by a quarter past 11. After a quick freshening up and downing a cup of tea along with a snack, went across to my cousin's office. Met Mrs Chandrettan after a long, long time. Was meeting up with her after what seemed to be a long time. She has promised to come to Guruvayur.

Maman came by a quarter to 2. Off for lunch after which we went off to the meeting site and the ladies went across for the Foundation's shopping from the Khadi Bhandaar.

The meeting went off smoothly. Justice Narayana Kurup (Retd) and our Chairman set the ball rolling. The proceedings ended by a quarter past 6 with my vote of thanks. We've drawn up an action plan for the district team.

A drive and dinner; sleep was at Sikshak Sadan.
