A game changer!

Massive Lithium reserves could be game changer for India, J&K. Known as white gold, Lithium is a chemical element used in rechargeable batteries of mobile phones, laptops, digital cameras and electric vehicles.

Why is it important?

* These reserves are rare.
* The discovery of 5.9 million tons of Lithium reserves means that India is the second country in the world with Lithium deposits, after Chile that has 9.2 million tons.
* Australia with 5.7 million tons, Argentina with 2.2 million tons and China with 1.5 million tons are the other countries that are blessed with Lithium deposits.
* It will be a major boost in the manufacture of rechargeable batteries.
* It would reduce the need for imports and improve employment opportunities.

The discovery of Lithium reserves in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir is definitely good news. The reserves have been discovered by the the Geological Survey of India (GSI) in Salal-Haimana area of Reasi district.

The discovery has come about 26 years after the GSI submitted a detailed report about the presence of Lithium in Reasi.

My take

The Government, in power then, needs to answer as to why it had hushed up the report.

Tailpiece.

Got up at 6, the chores and was ready by a half past 10.

Went to town for the following :-
  * the cell of Lekha's watch replaced.
  * to the Canara bank for reactivating an account.
  * to get print outs of our tickets from Prithi's internet cafe.
  * to fetch sundries.

Helped Lekha in watering the plants.
