India's first indigenous engine for battle tanks.

Defence PSU Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) carried out the maiden test-firing of India's first indigenously made 1500 HP engine for main battle tanks. This is a far-reaching milestone as the country had lacked engine-related technology.

The test-firing was conducted at BEML's engine division in the presence of the Defence Secretary. The1500 HP engine represents a paradigm shift in military propulsion systems, possessing cutting-edge features such as high power-to-weight ratio, operability in extreme conditions including high altitudes, sub-zero temperatures and desert environments.

The phases of development :-

 * Generation One. The test firing of the 1500 HP engine where the focus is on technology stabilisation.
 * Generation Two. BEML will produce engines for various trials at Combat Vehicles Research and
and Development Establishment for their integration into actual vehicles for user
                                testing.
 * The project is slated for completion by mid-2025.
 * The project was initiated in Aug 2020.

My take

A great milestone in indigenous technological innovation! BZ to BEML!!

Tailpiece.

Got up at my usual time, the chores and was ready by a half past 9.

Lekha had gone across to the temple to have a 'darshan' of the good Lord.

Drove the Chevy to do work and top up with fuel and check tyre pressure.

The curtains were put in place, the wall-mounted fan fixed, the fridge serviced and the coconuts were plucked.

Shut down The Quarterdeck systematically.
