The chopper was on an operational sortie from Misamari, in Assam's Sonitpur district to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. However, it encountered inclement weather in West Kameng district and was returning to Misamari when the mishap occurred.
Five search parties of the Indarmy, SSB and ITBP were dispatched and the wreckage of the chopper was found near Banglajaap village, east of Mandala in West Kameng district.
A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Arunachal has a history of aircraft crashes and this incident is the 16th such incident since 1995. Over 100 lives have been lost in the accidents.

My take
There are too many coincidences in this chopper crash.
* The US had, finally, accepted that Arunachal Pradesh is, indeed part of India and that the MacMahon Line was the boundary between India and China only yesterday.
* This must have prompted the Chinese to 'teach' India a lesson and to let the US know that its writ is law in this part of the world.
* Could the Chinese have engineered the crash?
We need to await the findings of the CoI.
Tailpiece.
Got up at 6, the chores and was ready by a quarter to 10.
Earlier, had What'sApped Dr (Mrs Sodhi), giving her an overview of my problematic throat. The doctors were on strike and so, she wasn't seeing patients today. Armed with the new prescription I'd gone across to Johnson's medical shop to collect the new medicines, soon after breakfast.
My cousin, Kannan's wife, Mini's father passed away this morning at Tvpm and his funeral was at 1700 hrs.
The evening chores. Helped Lekha water the plants.
