The reach and spread of Yoga in the last few decades have been phenomenal. It has become the swanky new panacea for all problems of the modern world.
However, Yoga is no longer practiced as a method of self - enquiry as it was intended to be.
The practice has been heavily commercialized and distorted beyond recognition. There are also constant attempts to strip this sacred practice of its Hindu roots.
If Yoga is to be truly beneficial to the world, it needs to be reclaimed from the clutches of economics and expediency.
Yoga must be brought back to its rightful pedestal of being a stepping stone to Kaivalya or liberation.
My take
Yes, there's too much of commercialization of Yoga. It needs to be retrieved!
Tailpiece.
Got up at 6, lit up the lamp in the pooja room and opened up the house.
Lekha had got ready and left by Kunjumon's autorickshaw, at a quarter to 9, for Kottarakkara to :-
* book the 'thila homam' on her dad's name at the Padinjaattinkara kshetram, for the 27th being his
7th remembrance day.
* pray at the Kottarakkara Maha Ganapathi kshetram.
* get her footwear from Bata.
* get her cellphone corrected and
* buy grocery from the More Supermarket.
A heavy drizzle around late afternoon. Wet the dried clothes on the line outside.
