The 77th Independence Day.

Today marks 76 years of independence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke for 89 minutes to the nation, this morning, from the ramparts of the Red Fort in New Delhi. Dressed in a bright headgear, he was immaculately turned out for the occasion as usual.

He spelt out the achievements of his government over the last 10 years of his rule and expressed confidence that India will be a developed country when she celebrates her 100th Independence Day., in 2047!

He also spoke about Manipur's agony and said that the state will get back to normal, slowly and steadily with the combined efforts of his government and the state government. And touching an emotive cord, he affirmed that when the people of Manipur face difficulties, the whole country feels it and is with the people there in their times of distress.

He emphasised the need for discarding three of our negative qualities viz. corruption, dynastic politics and appeasement to develop without constraints.

He was also forthcoming about what he plans to do during his third term as prime minister because he was sure that he would return to power after the general elections of 2024.

The sheer confidence of his address shows as to how he disregarded the global conspiracy to dislodge him with the help of the forces inimical to him and the fifth columnists, within the country.

My take

O God, may our country be blessed to have his continuing dynamic leadership in the aftermath of the general elections of 2024.

Tailpiece.

Got up half an hour earlier than 6, the chores and was ready by 10.

Watched the Independence Day speech of the Prime Minister from the ramparts of the Red Fort, New Delhi.

A quiet day. Hauled down the tricolour by sunset.
