Sushant Singh Rajput death - Murder or Suicide?

What has been grabbing the headlines in the media over the last few weeks is about the sad end of the Bollywood actor, Sushant Singh Rajput, who'd essayed the role of India's cricketer, Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the biopic that sketches the life and times of the immensely popular cricketer. He'd done a commendable job of it and had won wide acclaim.

And then comes the story, on 14 Jun, that he'd committed suicide. The Bombay Police that probed the death had, within the first day itself, declared it as an open-and-shut case of suicide. The investigation was meandering along without much ado. Meanwhile, stories started coming out in the media that Sushant suffered from acute depression and was on medication for it. Stories came in thick and fast as to how he had completely become dangerously dependent on those medicines!

Then came the explosive interview of the Bollywood actress, Kangana Ranaut by Arnab Goswami on the Republic Television channel, in which she said that she had reasons to believe that Sushant did not die by suicide but was murdered. She'd gone on further to say, that he'd to pay the heavy price for having come to know the truth about his manager, Disha Salian's end that had taken place just five days before his passing away.

The story has it that the Republic Television channel had got down to the details of the case as part of its investigative journalism and have come up with the following findings :-

   (a) There was rampant nepotism in Bollywood.
   (b) A powerful cabal ensured that the careers of the newcomers - especially rank outsiders - never
took off and they fell by the wayside. Sushant was a rank outsider.
   (c) His manager, Disha Salian, was invited by members of the cabal for a party to discuss a 'new
         project' on 09 Jun.
   (d) She was later reported to have committed suicide by jumping off the ledge of her 14th floor
flat. It was ascertained, that she was raped by the people in that room and killed. The body was
         dumped from the flat.
   (e) Before her death, she'd reported about what was happening to her and the details of the guys who'd
molested and misbehaved with her to Sushant.
   (f)  Since he'd come to know of the details, he'd to be eliminated.
   (g) The gang took him on during the evening of 13 Jun and killed him.
   (h) Sushant's girl friend, Rhea Chakraborty and her brother, seem to have transferred his entire bank
         balance into their's.
   (j) The names of the people who were present at Sushant's house on that fateful evening of 13 Jun
have been listed, which is headed by Aditya Thackeray! The same crowd was also present at Disha
Salian's flat when she had allegedly committed suicide!

Seeing that the Bombay Police was not making any headway, Sushant's family, at Patna, had lodged an FIR with the Bihar Police and accordingly, a team was sent across to Bombay for investigation. They were detained by the Bombay Police and not allowed to do their work saying, that they did not have the authority to do so!

The Supreme Court was monitoring the goings on and yesterday, gave the following directives:-

    (a) The Bihar Police team was to be released forthwith to get on with their work.
    (b) The CBI and the Enforcement Directorate to probe Rhea Chakraborty and her family.
    (c) The Bombay police was indicted for its inaction and directed to submit the investigation details
to the court within three days.

My take.

I hope that Commissioner of Bombay Police, Param Bir Singh shows respect to his uniform and profession by investigating the case thoroughly, like a true professional. He should realise that the manner in which he's playing up to his current political master's requirements will neither win him respect from his men nor from the same political master, who'll dump him in the first available juncture when he finds him to be a dead weight. Everyone despises an unprofessional guy whose loyalty is available for the asking.

Param Bir Singh, if you've some self respect in you, turn a new leaf and get to the truth because that's only what is expected of you. 136 crore Indians are watching you!

Tailpiece.

Got up at 6, the chores and was ready by a half past 9. It was a wet day with gusty winds.
