My inferences.

Saw the Hindu newspaper of the day. Narasimhan Ram's misgivings towards Narendra Modi continues unabated after the last article that he'd articulated on the Rafael Aircraft deal, which had snipped a part of an important MoD file noting to completely alter the text to prove that the then government had malafide intentions - or in Rahul Gandhi's words, put Rs.30,000 crore of the IAF into Anil Ambani's pockets!

Observe the news that has been bandied about:-

  (a) Centre in damage control mode over anti-Hindi protests.

The fact is that it's a draft national policy that is being recommended and it will have to go
through the entire process before it becomes a piece of legislation approved by both the houses
of the Parliament and has to be ratified by the state Assemblies. And it would be in the fitness of
things to see what it's all about:-

          (i) Pre-school.          Teaching in mother tongue.
(ii) Class 1 to 5.         Exposure to three languages. Medium is mother tongue.
(iii) Class 6 onward.   Choices within the three language formula.
In Hindi speaking states.        Hindi, English and another modern Indian
                                                                                             language.
In non-Hindi speaking states. Hindi, English and local language.
Additional 2 years of Sanskrit or any other classical language.
Foreign language can be an elective subject.

          Aren't the protests a bit over-hyped?

     (b) Hilal Ahmed's article as to "Why minorities feel alienated in India?" He says that there's an
unofficial political mechanism that has produced a sense of fear in the last five years.

If that be the case, how come so many Muslims voted for Narendra Modi?

2. Kerala's new education policy.

And here's the draft of the new education policy being implemented by the Kerala government.          The 10+2 is being revamped to 5+3+3+4:-

             (a) Stage 1.   3 to 6 years in pre-school. The 1st and 2nd classes follow.
             (b) Stage 2.   8 to 11 years. Class III to Class V.
             (c) Stage 3.   11 to 14 years. Class VI to Class VIII.
             (d) Stage 4.   14 to 18 years. Class IX to Class XII.

The teachers' organisations and the opposition consisting of the Congress and the BJP have
     protested against its implementation!

Tailpiece.

Had got up at 4, gone through the chores and could begin our journey by a quarter past 6. Breakfast was at Ananda Bhavan at Chalakkudy and we could get past the Paliyekkara toll, Palarivattom deviation, the Vyttila and the Kundannoor flyover constructions without much wait and were at the Shilpa Residency for lunch, at our usual time. Dropped Lekha at her sister's place, went to Raj Nivas to see the completed jobs, spent time with mom and dad and returned to the Kottarakkara RTC stand.
Boarded a fast passenger to Thiruvananthapuram without much delay and reached the destination by a half past 5.

A nice evening at Indira kunjamma's house. Gopu had dropped by.

Met two genuine guys - Gopalakrishnan, the driver of the RTC bus and Sasidharan Nair. the auto rick driver. Nice!
