1. Prayer is not a spare wheel that you pull out when in trouble but it is a steering wheel that directs the right path throughout life.
2. Why is a car's windshield so large and the rear view mirror so small? Because our past is not as important as our future. So, look ahead and move on.
3. Friendship is like a book. It takes a few seconds to burn but it takes years to write.
4. All things in life are temporary. If they are going well, enjoy them, they will not last forever. If they are going wrong, don't worry, they can't last long either.
5. Old friends are gold. New friends are diamonds! If you get a diamond, don't forget the gold! To hold a diamond, you always need a base of gold.
6. Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, God smiles from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart; it's just a bend not the end!"
7. When God solves your problems, you have faith in his abilities; when God doesn't solve your problems, He has faith in your abilities.
8. A blind person asked God : "Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?" He replied : "Yes, losing your vision!"
9. When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.
10. Worrying does not take away tomorrow's troubles; it takes away today's peace.

Why Is Gold Used In Satellites?
Gold is used on connectors and contacts because it has excellent corrosion resistance, high electrical conductivity (only copper and silver are better) and alloyed with small amounts of nickel or cobalt, has good wear resistance.
Satellites are wrapped in the golden colour foils to protect it and its components from the extreme environmental conditions of the space. Most of the components in a satellite which are mostly electronics has to be maintained within a certain range of temperature to keep it working, beyond which the equipment might fail. Likewise the propellants has to be stored at a particular temperature to avoid its freezing. So this Multilayer Layer Insulation (MLI) provides an enclosure to avoid heat exchange with the outer space which may be at 2.7 K (-270.45 degrees Celsius). You may require active heaters, coolers, optical solar reflectors and radiators also to get the complete thermal control. MLIs are basically kapton layer outside and Mylar layer inside. Outside layer is golden in colour to provide reflectivity against solar radiation. It blocks significant amount of the radiation loads on the parts where radiation loads are undesirable. Inside layer has very low emissivity to minimise the heat leak in any direction.
Conduction is the dominant property inside the enclosure to spread heat over the structure.
Gold is used because of its multiple benefits in outer space. Because of its excellent ability to reflect infrared light while letting in visible light, astronauts' visors have a thin layer of gold on them to protect their eyes from unfettered sunlight.
Tailpiece.
A rainy day to begin with. Got up at 6, the chores and was ready by 10. Lekha had given the maid, a day off, as she reported that she'd a cough and cold.
The guys with the recharge LPG cylinder came clanging when I was just rounding off my short siesta, just before teatime.
Tomorrow is the 76th anniversary of the birth of the Travancore Grandhasala Sangham, wherein PN Panicker had organised a massive meeting at Ambalappuzha and had Sir CP Ramaswamy Aiyar, the then Diwan of Travancore as the chief guest. There will be a meeting, at 1100 hrs, on the courtyard of the PN Panicker Foundation to commemorate the occasion.
