In my 30 years of working relations with Ukraine, I know Ukraine both inside and outside.....have hired.....hired hundreds of Ukrainian seafarers......Ukrainians after leaving Russia went mad.....they got the nation but nationalism was left in Russia itself......
A normal Ukrainian can beat up a fellow Ukrainian for 10 dollars......If the Russians are hardworking, the Ukrainians are more cynical......
Ukraine and Turkey have a big dream that they will probably be included in the European Union.....and they will also be called white because of their fair skin.....Blows away in alcohol......Always remains in a hand to mouth existence......But in the forefront of false pride.....
If you are a foreigner then the robbery will start from the airport itself......every man needs a dollar as tip.....give the currency of Ukraine, then you'll be abused on the face.....
No big cars run there....but 2nd hand small cars in Europe run because petrol is very expensive.....
You hardly see any person smiling......Cheating and theft are common in Ukraine.....The girl whom you take as a friend to drink beer and have a 'brain honeymoon' with her, later will share you with her friends or someone else. Will leave you on the street only in trunks and take away your clothes too......
It is considered lucky if you get a job of $500 in Ukraine.....
These Indian students who go there to do academics in the name of medical studies have shocking grades......who do not get admission anywhere in India......Agents, by pretending to have a medical degree from Ukraine for 30-40 lakhs take the students there. Most of the children are either from the homes of landlords or the corrupt government officials whose parents have to show off that their children are studying abroad to 'up their status' in the society. Studying in the university is a common refrain.......what they don't know is that their children do everything except studies there......
I had a chance to be with a few such medical kids......everyone cried, saying that they were ill treated in college......their section is called the garbage section.....and they got to talk to the Ukrainian students. And are taught separately!
These children do not pass the exams there, otherwise the professor has to be bribed....for that, they ask for money by lying to their families back home.....girls are sexually abused....
An ordinary Ukrainian is in debt.....because the government is useless.....and a comedian is the ruler there......who doesn't look out of his limousine....
Freedom does not mean chaos......Freedom means stable and the right choices....
Mostly, this is the condition of all of the countries of Eastern Europe......When people make a mockery of independence, their fate becomes like the ones in Afghanistan, Venezuela and Ukraine......
My take
Never knew that the plight was so pathetic. When I recall about my interactions with such students earlier, I used to find that they were low on self confidence and tended to remain quiet and had always wondered about the reason. Now I've got it and it's sad!

Got up at a quarter past 6, the chores and was ready by a quarter to 10.
Spent time, watching the election results on television. Goa, Manipur, UP and Uttarakhand go to BJP while Punjab goes to the AAP.
Helped Lekha in watering the plants. Seeing a very strange phenomenon here, this time the Labernum on our courtyard has not bloomed while the others in the courtyard have.....wonder why?
The caretaker has been tasked to wash the well and the overhead tank, back at my parents' house and the money for it was transferred into his account today.
