Humility - A leaf out of the President's Itinerary.

Yesterday, Mahalakshmi, her friends and their teachers lined the roadside - in front of their institution - with placards to welcome and catch a glimpse of President Draupadi Murmu, who was enroute to the Mata Amritanandamayi Math in Amrithapuri.

At around 0930 hrs, when the President's entourage passed them, the students waved at her and she waved back. When the cavalcade returned at around 1045 hrs, a bigger crowd was waiting near the school. That's when she stopped the vehicle, got out, interacted with the kids and gave them chocolates.

As one among the people who'd interacted with the President said, "This is our proudest moment. I believe that every leader should be humble and, more importantly, approachable for the common man".

My take

The Rashtrapathi of India, besides being the Supreme Commander of the armed forces, dorns many hats in accordance with the Constitution of the country. Though ceremonial in stature in a parliamentary democracy, she wields tremendous powers! President Draupadi Murmu's conduct, cited above, is a hallmark of her character - humility!

How one wishes as to why the leaders, much lower in stature to her, can't exhibit this quality?

Tailpiece.

Got up at 6, the chores and was ready by a half past 9.

The Mercury has been rising steadily and it's getting to be hot. The Whirlpool's service rep, Akhilesh, had dropped by and done the needful on the air conditioners.

The evening chores and helped Lekha in watering the plants.
