Can you believe this?

Certain news bewilder me by the sheer state of their audacity. Somewhere deep down, you begin to wonder as to why people embark on this dangerous trend but certain guys goad sensationalism just because the general public - you and I - love it. I'm touching upon two such bits here!

  (a) Mahua Moitra's Maiden Speech in Parliament.

With her fiery speech in Parliament, the newly elected MP of the Trinamul Congress had
mesmerised many of us and we dutifully endorsed that this was the best example of a beauty
with brains. I must confess that I'd instantly fallen in love with her and thanked the Bengalis
for electing a purposeful MP. The media had endorsed her in a no-holds-barred manner and
concluded that it was people like her that would strengthen the numerically less opposition!

It now turns out that her speech was copied from an American article. She just replaced
        'Trump' with 'Modi'.

What a sad turn of events, ma'am? Don't you have an originality to whatever you churn out
either with your pen or by word of mouth?

   (b) The Kerala Government's Sinister Game.

The Kerala Forest department, in its ecotourism report to the centre, has termed the Sabarimala
pilgrim chants as noise pollution and listed out the environmental hazards caused by the
         pilgrimage:-

               * collection of firewood from the forest.
               * cutting poles for constructing sheds.
               * littering of bio-degradable waste.
               * creating trekking tracks through trampling causing soil erosion.
               * lighting at night during trekking to the temple, temporary camps and halting places.

What a sinister game? And they had constituted an inquiry to find out as to why they failed
        miserably at the hustings.

Imagine the outrage if this was said about any other religion!

Tailpiece.

Had got up at my usual time, gone through the chores and was ready well in time. Reached the Foundation and was a part of the three day workshop on 'Hitech Agriculture' which was oversubscribed by the number of participants (63 as against 50). In the evening called on Indira kunjamma and bid farewell to Kripa-shankar who is joining VIT, Madras for mechanical engineering this Saturday.

PS.

Came across the statements of the actual American author and Mahua Moitra on the plagiarised speech. If she's clean, I would be more than happy!
