My views on today's happenings.

1. SAARC Summit Through Video Conference.

Prime Minister Modi reached out to the eight member regional grouping on Friday and pitched
for a video conference among the leaders of the South Asian Association for Regional
Co-operation (SAARC) to chalk out a strong strategy to combat the Corona virus outbreak.

The Corona virus cases reported among the SAARC nations is as follows:-

        (a) Afghanistan                 11.
        (b) Bangladesh                  In single digit.
        (c) Bhutan                                   "
        (d) India                             107.
        (e) Maldives                       In single digit.
        (f) Nepal                                      "
        (g) Pakistan                        34. No death has been reported.
        (h) Sri Lanka                      10.

The last SAARC summit in 2014 was held in Nepal's Khatmandu which was attended by Modi.

Apart from Prime Minister Modi, the following had attended today's summit by video conference:-

        (a) Afghan President Ashraf Ghani
        (b) Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina
        (c) Bhutanese PM Lotay Tshering
        (d) Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih
        (e) Nepalese PM KP Sharma Oli
        (f) Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and
        (g) Special Assistant on Health to Pakistani PM Zafar Mirza.

PM Modi proposed the creation of a COVID-19 emergency fund. India will contribute $10
million. "Prepare, don't panic", was the mantra that he'd passed on.

Pakistan, churlishly, said that Kashmir should be opened up, as before, to fight the virus menace.

My take.

It was diplomatic churlishness on the part of Pakistan for two things:-

         (a) Imran Khan sending his minion who is caught up with smuggling masks to China.
         (b) Raising the Kashmir issue, since it's no more one. Only the PoK needs to be sorted out!

2. What Goes Comes Round.

The NIA has slapped cases on the Kashmiri terrorist, Yasin Malik for the murder of six IAF
personnel and for his active involvement in many terrorist activities in the past. There is no
dearth of concrete evidence to prove his guilt and this time, he's sealed for good. A photograph
of his shows as to how worried the guy is.

It's my fond hope that the legal proceedings against him are hastened and that he is given the
capital punishment for his past actions!

My take.

Serves the idiot right. We should get over the legal procedures as early as possible and end his life at the gallows!

Tailpiece.

A quiet Sunday. Lekha has recruited Suma for the activities in the kitchen and she commences work from tomorrow.
