We're into our third day on our journey across India in the quest of the famous foods and today, we begin with a state that is known for its 'sweet' cuisines. So let's move on.

7. Gujarat

Dhokla, Khakhra and Fafda are not the only famous foods of this state. Gujarati cuisine has many famous dishes on its list and a wide range of snacks. It is an old culinary treasure and the food is mainly popular for its vegetarian dishes. The 'thali' is extremely popular all over the country. The taste of Gujarati food is a combination of sweet and sour that makes it special.

The food has been influenced by Punjabi and Tibetan cuisines. Red meat is very popular; the traditional food includes Madara, Kadhi, Khatta etc.

Himachal Pradesh is famous for its "Dham" which is a traditional feast. It's enjoyed by the locals in all special events and celebrations. It's prepared by a particular caste of Brahmins (Botis). The menu of Dham generally includes rice, moong dal, madra, chole, mash dal with khatta and in dessert Mitha Bhath (Rice) or Mithdee. This feast menu varies from region to region.
