Famous foods of India (7).

After the break, am back to my favourite subject - the famous foods of India and I must thank my dear friend and course mate, Mahendra Bahadur Saxena for retrieving this for me. So, without much ado, here we go.

18. Nagaland

Nagaland food is very simple. The foods are oil-free and less spicy. Dishes are mostly boiled or steam cooked. The traditional food of Nagaland includes rice, pork, dog meat, fermented soya beans and bamboo shoots. This hilly state has a special love for rice. In fact, rice and pork are the staple food.

Myanmar, Bhutan and China are its immediate neighbours. People, here, like to tart food. The home of the world's hottest chilli "Bhut Jholkiya" is in Nagaland and the locals love it in the form of chutney and sauce; is easily available in the market. Boiled vegetables, bamboo shoots and a combo of this with meat are popular. Fermented soya beans "Akhuni" is an essential part of Naga food.

The staple food of Punjab like butter chicken, chicken tikka, paneer tikka, lassi. chole, Rajma chawal etc are well known names. Punjabi cuisine includes wheat, leafy vegetables, milk products, rice. Chicken based products has a special place in food habits, Amritsar is popular for its milk products. Ghee, butter are commonly used commonly on rotis or parathas. Tandoor (A special style of cooking) has popularity at the global level and Punjabis are known for their living standards and delicious food list.

Got up at a trifle past 6, the chores, change of bed linen, washing machinex and was ready by 10.

Lekha was on fluid diet. Thankfully, she has no pain but there's a slight swelling on the left jaw. A quiet Thursday!
